Hey! Is 3D here to stay?
I say… yes.
(But what the hell does that mean?
Well, I think our urge for ‘more’ of everything, and the urgency that entertainment & social technology has created for us, will greatly influence our desire for ‘more’ (visual & entertaining) visual experiences.
That being said, my question is, “To what degree will 3D be accepted, and will it thrive?”
My response: It, like always, will depend on the nature of the content. -And that’s STORY.
Can we know what those stories will be? No.
And today, EVERYBODY’S got their idea of what ought to be shot in 3D. Most of it is sh!t.
But because there is such a fever pitch for all those involved in the entertainment biz to
capitalize on this opportunity, it’s not clear if after the dust and commotion settles what will remain on this landscape.
Chances are that because there’s such a commitment by the studios, equipment and display manufacturers, that the effort for establishing 3D in the marketplace will be strong for a while. But what comes and goes,
comes and goes much faster these days. And, although 3D, in the end, will survive, it is possible for it to settle down to much less than we hope (after a 3-5 year campaign by all).
Stay tuned…
